At no point in life can you be perfect at anything, but you can prepare yourself for the adventures of life. One of life’s biggest challenges is marriage. Marriage requires preparation emotionally and spiritually. Marriage is considered to be one of the hardest aspects of life to control. Merging two different customary lifestyles into one can be difficult especially since the feelings of both are involved. I have learned both the numerous ways to destroy and build a successful marriage. Marriage is the union of man and woman becoming as one flesh according to God’s law and the law of the land.

I’m not saying that they had the perfect marriage; but my father did teach me to work hard at what you do and be the man of your household. He taught me that you are the breadwinner of your house and your family is your responsibility. As a child, I did witness some unpleasant memories between my mother and father in the form of arguments which sometimes turned physical. The way I viewed that was I would never want to put my hands on my wife, even when provoked.
My mother was the person that made sure we attended Church regularly and establish a relationship with God every since I can remember. She was truly the matriarch of the family. She instilled in us at a very young age how important it was to give time on Sundays to your Church in the form of worship.
The woman I married was from my hometown, although we went to different high schools, we never dated back then although I was very attracted to her. After graduating from high school in 1980, I left Mississippi and moved to Michigan and lived there for about a year before I joined the military in 1981. When I went on vacation to Mississippi in 1985, I ran across the woman whom I had a crush on from my high school days.
